There are many way to see Beijing. The hotel can arrange tours but impersonal and pricey. Tripadvisor is a source of ideas. PLDI does not endorse any of the following, but the General Chair (Jan Vitek) met the guides while scouting and is providing links for your consideration. The guides proposed a schedule, but you can arrange alternatives. These tours will be held if a sufficient number of people register. Tours before and after PLDI can be arranged with these guides directly. The Travel and Adventure page also has some discussions of trips (see, e.g. Richard Jones' post).
